Halo 5: Gaurdians Will Have Big Day 1 Patch, Additional Playlists

Big launch patches are now the norm.

As is usually the norm these days, 343 Industries confirmed this week that when Halo 5: Guardians launches later this month, it is going to require a rather large Day 1 patch in order for players to get the entire game experience. This particular patch is going to be aimed at the massive multiplayer mode coming with Guardians and Josh Holmes claims there is going to be more to come over the next few months.

At launch, there are expected to be 20 multiplayer maps and there will be another 15 added throughout the year and 2016 leading right up until June. The game’s Forge mode won’t even be in the game until this December, meaning there are going to be quite a few additions to Halo 5 long after it hits the Xbox One. Luckily for those who are planning on going out and getting the title when it launches, most of this additional content will be free.

Some fans of the long running series, who are plenty excited about what the game will offer when it does launch have gotten a bit nervous about some missing maps and levels in the existing multiplayer playlist. In particular, one user hit up Josh Holmes on Twitter in order to ask why Empire and Eden weren’t made available. Holmes responded there wasn’t a reason to despair because they will be added back at some point.

For those who can’t wait to see what the game has to offer, we’ve already confirmed there’s going to be a long live stream before the game launches. Halo 5: Guardians goes live exclusively for the Xbox One on October 27, 2015.
