Halo 5 Guardians: Arena Multiplayer Game Types, Map Design And More Detailed

New multiplayer mode called Breakout is a first for the series.

Microsoft had a very big and very good Gamescom thanks to footage it showed off of games that we don’t know much about like Scalebound. The company added to that success by divulging even more information about games that are coming out this year including Halo 5: Guardians. Josh Holmes of 343 sat down with the Xbox One team including Major Nelson at Gamescom and showed off some new content when it comes to the title’s multiplayer mode.

Holmes appeared in order to show off a multiplayer map for the Arena mode. The map is called The Rig and it was being shown off for the first time at Gamescom 2015. Holmes pointed out that The Rig takes place on a planet called Meridian, which also features prominently during the campaign mode. Holmes lays out that this map is going to be asymmetrical and has been one that has been tested quite a bit throughout the development of the game.

Holmes also talked about the kind of game modes that are going to be featured in the multiplayer PvP and team modes, including some that have been brought over from previous iterations in this series. He also talked about a brand new mode that was tested in the beta but otherwise is entirely new to the series. Breakout will feature a system where players have a single life per round while also sporting heightened lethality. That makes the play that much faster and quite a bit more difficult. Check out all the details, as well as get your first look at The Rig in the video below and get hyped for the release of Halo 5: Guardians when it launches this October.
