Just one week after Josh Holmes was asked on Twitter whether or not 343 was going to be bringing a physical copy of the LCE version of Halo 5: Guardians, the company has unveiled just that. The collector’s edition comes with a number of different figures and statues of characters featured prominently in the game. It also comes with an art steelbook and a pretty cool carrying case as well as the game itself of course. All of this, other that the physical copy was already offered by 343 along with a digital download.
The good news today is that the company says gamers who want to, will be able to exchange the digital download cards for a physical copy, for no extra charge. When it comes to actually playing the game, Holmes also provided some more details about the solo player mode and squad mechanics. On twitter, the game director was asked how the solo mode works when choosing who to play with. It turns out, that gamers can only play as Locke or Master Chief.
In multiplayer mode, when someone joins up with a friend, gamers can choose which members of the team they want to be. In order to make it feel as though you are playing as part of a team even in solo mode, Holmes also said your team members can be ordered to come revive you if you are bleeding out. The problem is that they may die trying to get to you. By doing it this way, there is a level of strategy involved that wasn’t there before.
Halo 5: Guardians releases on October 27th 2015.
