After the reveal trailer for Halo 5: Guardians’ multiplayer, there were many questions asked about the so-called “next generation arena multiplayer” gameplay it would. 343 Industries design director Bradford Welch was actually questioned about the same on Twitter. Sadly, his answers were fairly typical about what players could expect.
“Arena means what you’d expect. Competitive focus, level playing field, map control. Spartan abilities are player mechanics not loadout AAs.”
Welch also made sure to mention that the abilities in question were “things that every player can do inherently with their Spartan.” No fall damage? Psh, everyone’s got that.
Regardless, Halo 5: Guardians will be doing tons of new things with its multiplayer. We already know that 343 Industries is developing new multiplayer modes for the game and we got our first glimpse of the new Spartans during E3. Halo 5: Guardians will be out in 2015, while the multiplayer beta will be included with Halo: The Master Chief Collection (releasing on November 11th for Xbox One).
