Even though 343 Industries has addressed demands to bring split-screen support to the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, many fans continue to demand its inclusion. Despite executive producer Josh Holmes stating that devoting resources to it would detract from other key aspects of the game, “#BringHalo5SplitScreenBack” shows no signs of dying down just yet.
Franchise development director Frank O’Connor was the latest to comment on the lack of split-screen. He tweeted that, “If we could do it, we would do it. But it is what they call ‘nontrivial.'”
No, it doesn’t mean the request is “trivial” or anything. “Nontrivial” is a term programmers use when trying to describe a process which would take a lot of time and be extremely difficult to pull off. Considering Holmes’ statements about not wanting to compromise on the rest of the game for split-screen, this seems pretty much in line with 343 Industries’ philosophy at this point.
Halo 5: Guardians will be out on October 27th for Xbox One.
