Given that the Halo series now has a massive and sprawling narrative that includes books, video games and coics, it’s really no surprise that 343 Industries are trying their hardest to connect all the threads of narrative and draw them together into a cohesive plot.
Speaking about including some Halo 5: Guardians story hints in Halo 2 Anniversary, much in the same way that Halo Anniversary did for Halo 4, Dan Ayoub, 343 executive producer told GameSpot that, “If you remember the terminals from the first Halo: Anniversary where you could find and unlock motion comic-style pieces that filled in story for what was going to happen in Halo 4, we’re doing a lot of the same in Halo 2 that are going to start to hint at some things that are coming down the line in Halo 5.
“Our terminals in Halo 2: Anniversary are going to focus on The Arbiter. You’ll start to get an idea of his history and a little more about him.”
This is for the most part, a good thing. A lot of players never venture outside the main series of games and into the outside material that is still canon, and because of this they miss out on a lot of sub-plot. I actually quite like hunting down the terminals.
