Halo 5 Guardians Ties in to Previous Games, Agent Locke Plays “Pivotal Role”

VIP Halo players may also be able to create playlists for maps from all games in Master Chief Collection.

Bonnie Ross, the studio head over at 343 Industries has said that Halo 5: Guardians is going to have a lot of “tie-ins” with all of the games that came before it.

These tie-ins will all come together with the new plot. There has been speculation for quite some time that Master Chief will be taking the back seat in this game and being replaced by Agent Locke as the main character. It looks as though this may be true, but keep in mind nothing has been confirmed. Agent Locke will be playing a “pivotal role in Halo 5: Guardians” and his origin story can be viewed in the upcoming Halo: Nightfall series.

It’s also been mentioned that The Master Chief Collection will have a new prologue and epilogue created by Blur Studios. Blur is also remaking all the CGI cutscenes from Halo 2: Anniversary and they will be “jaw-dropping” according to Ross. Another intriguing detail is the idea of custom playlists for maps from all games in the franchise. As of now, it’s under consideration with Ross stating that will only give “VIP Halo players the ability to create playlists.”
