Halo 5: Guardians Will Have Master Chief as Main Character and Hero

343 Industries' Frank O' Connor says there won't be a transition to a new playable character.

343 Industries studio Bonnie Ross has recently talked about Halo 5: Guardians and how it will tie-in to many of the previous games. However, not only have we seen Agent Locke (the character) state that he’ll be “the primary character” in the Xbox One shooter but Ross has also talked about making future Halo games even if they aren’t Master Chief stories. Could one thus conclude that the Chief isn’t the star of Halo 5: Guardians?

Franchise development director Frank O’Connor clarified the same on NeoGAF, stating that Locke was “‘A” primary character. Chief is the main character and hero.”

Will there be a transition to a new playable protagonist with Halo 5? “No. The end.” Well, that pretty much settles it.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be releasing in November for the Xbox One and includes Halo: Nightfall, a mini-series that tells the origins of Agent Locke. What are your thoughts on all this? Let us know below.
