Halo 5 Made From Ground Up for Xbox One, Lot of Effort Involved to Leverage Console’s Full Power

343 Industries' Chris Lee says this is the studio's most ambitious title yet.

Despite much of the scrutiny it’s been under lately, namely concerning performance issues with its E3 2015 demo and 343 Industries still finalizing the resolution, Halo 5: Guardians is one of the most anticipated titles for the Xbox One yet.

GamingBolt spoke to 343 Industries’ Chris Lee about the experience and he explained that Halo 5: Guardians “is the most ambitious title we’ve ever made at 343. It’s the first title we’ve built from the ground up for Xbox One. Something we’re really excited about is our new epic campaign, and we’ve talked about featuring both Fireteam Osiris and Blue Team. The Arena mode, that’s a throwback to the legacy of Halo games.

“It’s the biggest investment we ever made in multiplayer with Arena and Warzone, our giant new mode, and we have all that free content that we want players to enjoy after post-launch. I really hope fans enjoy it and see us there on October 27th.”

Lee also said that leveraging the Xbox One’s power helped make modes like Warzone possible in the first place. “I think we’ve done a ton of work to bring our title to the Xbox One and leverage the power of that. I think at the same point we’ve gone after really ambitious modes like Warzone. Warzone is our new 12v12 plus enemy AI mode that we’ve talked about has everything from the core Halo gameplay in that mode. Its got enemies, its got vehicle, its got the biggest player count we’ve ever had, so that was a really big technical challenging feat.

“But it was a mode that we’ve always dreamed of making and we wanted to say ‘What if we could make all this happen?’ and we’ve just been working away to get all of those great elements into a single cohesive mode.”

Halo 5: Guardians is still several months away so we’ll stay tuned for more information on the same. What are your thoughts on its scope thus far, especially with the campaign and Warzone? Let us know in the comments.
