Halo: Reach Hits Peak Player Count Of Over 160,000 On Steam

It is also the top selling game on Steam right now.

Halo: Reach is out now on PC, marking the game’s debut on the platform, the series’ return to PC in many years, and the first time a Halo game’s been released on Steam, ever. And though you’d think that the launch of a nearly decade old game might not be met with too much fanfare, Reach has enjoyed a very successful debut on Steam.

Yesterday, the day of its launch, Halo: Reach broke into the top rungs of the most played games on Steam for the day, with a peak concurrent player count of 161,024 players. At the time of writing, the game has player count of 60,654, sitting below the links of PUBG, DOTA 2, Destiny 2, and GTA 5.  Halo: The Master Chief Collection is also currently the best-selling game on Steam. Meanwhile, the individual Halo: Reach is No. 2 in that list.

It’s in stark contrast to the miserable launch The Master Chief Collection suffered on the Xbox One back in 2014, and goes to show the work 343 Industries have done to turn things around for the PC release.

Next year, the next part of the collection’s PC launch – Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary – will be receiving beta.
