Halo The Master Chief Collection Graphics Are Coming Along Well, Using A Mix of Legacy & Custom Code

Frank O'Connor shares a few development updates for Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

343 Industries franchise director Frank O’Connor has revealed a bit of information regarding the development of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. When asked whether the  Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s engine is the same as the one used in Halo 5, Frank stated that they are different. “Not technically. It’s a blend of legacy and some proprietary code. H5 is on a different schedule and couldn’t be branched for this,” he said on Neogaf.

He also revealed that the graphics of the game are coming along well and at the same time dismissing reports about a  Xbox 360 version of the game. “Error. There’s no 360 version that doesn’t involve lots of old boxes and some imagination. Played a mid-polish version of one of the remake maps yesterday. Dat water. Dem rocks. Dat sky. Really coming along.”

He also vaguely hinted that Halo 5’s cutscene will be all in-engine as they did the same thing with Halo 4. Of course, this is just an assumption on our part but it’s obvious that they may do the same thing with Halo 5.
