Harmonix has revealed that it will be reviving its classic (and excellent) Rock Band IP of music games on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4; the Rock Band series of games, which was published by a collaboration of EA and Viacom, and went head to head against Activision’s Guitar Hero games (which were also debuted by Harmonix previously, incidentally). The Rock Band games always maintained a high standard and degree of quality, they were still affected by the music game market crash caused by Activision’s incredibly poor handling of the Guitar Hero franchise.
“We think about it all the time because we love Rock Band, and we’re waiting for just the right moment in the new generation of consoles to bring it back,” said Harmonix’s CEO Alex Rigopulos in an interview with GameReactor.
He continued: “Someday, when the time is right, we will want to bring it back.”
Of course, that ‘right time’ is definitely not now- presently, Harmonix is working on Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved for the Xbox One, alongside a new Dance Central and Amplitude game. So any Rock Band revival will have to wait for a while.
