Hazelight’s Next Game is Split Fiction – Rumor

It's reportedly been in development for "at least two years." It may also be revealed next month on Hazelight's 10th anniversary.

Hazelight Studios’ next game is a new IP that again embraces the co-op mechanic seen in titles like A Way Out and It Takes Two. EA Originals is the publisher, and while there are teases of an upcoming reveal, leaker billbil-kun has seemingly discovered the title’s name.

On Dealabs (translation via DeepL), they reported that it’s called Split Fiction, and it’s been in development for “at least two years.” Judging by the post-it notes in Hazelight’s original tweet, which showcased different rectangles divided horizontally, vertically, and diagonally, billbil-kun believes it could be a “dynamic screen sharing” mechanic.

Split-screen co-op is already present in Hazelight’s other titles, but switching from vertical to horizontal or diagonal screen divisions is a new concept. As for a reveal, the developer is celebrating its tenth anniversary in November, which is when it may announce the new title.

A release date appears to be further off, with teases of “202?” It wouldn’t be unreasonable to expect it out next year, depending on how far development has progressed, but stay tuned for further updates.
