Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Hits 500,000 Units Sold

The game is now selling at a profit for Ninja Theory ahead of its expectations.

Ninja Theory took a number of risks with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, creating what it considers the “first triple A indie title” and also acting as its own publisher for the first time. That risk seems to have paid off though.

In a new tweet, Ninja Theory revealed that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice had sold 500,000 units in the past three months and was expected to move into profit ahead of the studio’s expectations. This is good news indeed and shows that the indie space is capable of producing high-quality stories with excellent graphics that can rival – or even surpass – the bigger studios. Check out the subsequent developer diary below to learn more about the game’s launch.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is far from the most kid-friendly game though as its protagonist descends into the Norse realm of Helheim to resurrect her dead lover. To find out more about the game and why it’s so darn good, check out our official review.
