Thanks to a string of strong releases such as Disney Magic Castle, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies and Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. over the past few weeks, the Nintendo 3DS XL has been even stronger than ever in sales. In fact, this week saw the handheld’s sales rise from the prior week’s 36,350 to 57,940 units this week according to the latest Media Create sales charts.
The 3DS is also doing good business, albeit with sales roughly half that of the 3DS XL. It sold 17,747 units this week, slightly down from the prior week’s 18,625 units sold. It also narrowly fought off the PlayStation Vita, which is at third position this week with 17,702 units sold, down from the prior week’s 19,866 units.
Perhaps thanks to Killer is Dead entering the top 5, the PlayStation 3 managed to stay in the hardware charts’ top 5 with 11,743 units sold this week. The Wii U rounds out of the top 5, selling 10,038 units this week.
