Just Cause 3 Taking Full Advantage of Xbox One’s Power, Using Latest SDK Update

Game director Roland Lesterlin also talks about pushing both current gen platforms to the max.

Avalanche Studios’ Just Cause 3 will be 900p resolution on the Xbox One and 1080p resolution on the PS4, though the developer noted that players can expect excellent performance on both platforms. That being said, when you consider that the Xbox One’s hardware has been blamed for its inability to hit 1080p resolution on many titles, it would be interesting to hear Avalanche’s take on the same.

Speaking to game director Roland Lesterlin, GamingBolt asked if the Xbox One’s eSRAM is what caused the lack of a 1080p resolution for games in general. Are things better now and have developers been able to overcome it? Lesterlin said that, “All I can say is that Microsoft has been amazing to work with. They have supported us as we learned the new console and have helped us optimize a number of areas of the game to take full advantage of the console’s power.”

And Avalanche is using the latest SDK which allows for an additional CPU core on the console. “We are using the latest SDK. We push both consoles to their max, so every programmer on the team has enjoyed using that extra power to push the game that tiny bit further.”

Just Cause 3 is out on December 1st for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. What are your thoughts on performance for the Xbox One in comparison to PS4? Let us know in the comments.
