Square Enix may have finally released one of the games that they’ve had in development for a very long time, but we still don’t know anything about when we can expect to be playing Kingdom Hearts 3. And with them stalling and working on other projects in the meanwhile – why is Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD taking top billing as the Kingdom Hearts game right now? – we still don’t know when we’ll finally get to play it.
Which is why it seems like most Japanese games have just lost patience with the game and the company, and are tired of waiting for it to come out already. As of right now, Kingdom Hearts 3 ranks ninth in the Famitsu Weekly Most Wanted charts in Japan- unlike its brethren Final Fantasy 15 and Dragon Quest 11, which typically landed right at the top of the charts, this game is having trouble breaking into the Top 5.
It doesn’t have to do with demographics, either- while it is true that Famitsu as a magazine skews towards core gamers, and Kingdom Hearts is more casual friendly as a franchise, I need to point out that Pokemon RPGs, which are also more casual friendly, have routinely been at the top of these charts, too. No, this has to do with Square Enix taking their sweet time with the game, and just pissing everyone off in the process. They need this game out yesterday. Hopefully next year is the year we finally get tok play it.
