Kojima Likens Metal Gear Solid to the Olympics

Count on Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima to know what to say. As we lead up to the 25th Annivesary of the Metal Gear franchise, Kojima tweeted about how Metal Gear Solid series resembles the recently inaugurated London Olympics.

When asked what the MGS series is to you, I once responded, ‘It’s like the Olympics.’ A big event held every three or four years. You devote your life to the major goal of a fight on the world stage. You think of nothing beyond that. The latter half becomes difficult, and you think that you’ll retire after this. But after release, you think about the next tournament.

Think about it: All these years after Metal Gear Solid 4, who’s release was arguably the biggest event of 2008, we’re still awaiting the next Metal Gear Solid.

Even after everything was resolved with a big bow on top, we still want, nay crave more.

Thanks, Kojima.
