Konami, Japanese publishers of the world-famous franchises Metal Gear and Castlevania, have reported a profit of 245% in Q1 of their foscal year, as compared to the same period of last year, confirms 1UP.
Konami has attributed this huge improvement to the newly released Metal Gear Solid game on the PSP, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which sold 147 million units in this period (April to June).
While Peace Walker boosted Konami’s profit a whomping 40%, their DS game, Love Plus, which is sadly, a girlfriend sim, pushed the sales forward by 18%.
“Sales of Peace Walker progressed steadily, with the game receiving favorable reviews-it became the first PSP title to receive a perfect score of 40 points in an industry magazine’s cross review. Furthermore, co-op modes, etc., which leverage the characteristic features of handheld gaming devices, are being well received by hardcore Metal Gear fans,” Konami stated.
