Lionhead Studios’ John Needham will be working with Kudo Tsunoda, the man who pioneered the Kinect, on the augmented reality hardware HoloLens. Needham previously headed up Lionhead Studios after the departure of founder Peter Molyneux.
As a Microsoft spokesperson told Engadget, “”With the exception of Halo, Gears of War, Forza and Minecraft, Kudo Tsunoda will lead the vision and experience development of our other Microsoft Studios portfolio investments in the United States, Europe and across our Global Publishing team. John Needham relocated to Redmond in a new role overseeing internal development for several games and experiences for both Xbox and Microsoft HoloLens reporting to Kudo. All up responsibility for Xbox EMEA will be overseen directly by Phil Spencer.”
HoloLens has generated quite the hype since its initial announcement especially since Microsoft has worked to distinguish it from virtual reality headsets from various manufacturers like Oculus VR, HTC/Valve and Sony. It’s still in early development though so stay tuned for more information on HoloLens, including on the games it will support.
