The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth Confirmed to Still Be in Development by EA

Despite its recent high-profile mobile game cancellations, EA has confirmed that its mobile game based on The Lord of the Rings is still in development.

EA has revealed that, despite its recent cancellations, the company is still working on a mobile game based on The Lord of the Rings. Titled The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, the game was confirmed to still be in the works during an earnings call this week by EA COO Laura Miele.

According to Miele, developer Capital Games is still actively developing The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth, and it is still on track for a full release slated for later this year.

EA and Respawn announced the end of support for Apex Legends Mobile earlier this week. The decision, according to Respawn, was made due to a lack of quality, quantity and cadence in new content coming to the game.

EA also recently cancelled the still-in-development Battlefield Mobile. The game was in development for some time now, and it even had a listing on Google Play, complete with details and screenshots. According to EA, the cancellation comes from an internal change in plans for the Battlefield franchise.

Recent rumours have also indicated that EA cancelled an unannounced single-player Titanfall game.
