Man of Medan Is 4-5 Hours Long, Branching Story Makes It “Very Replayable”

"That’s a good length for a branching-narrative story," says game director Tom Heaton.

Man of Medan, the next horror adventure title from Supermassive Games of Until Dawn fame, is almost upon us, and those who experienced their PS4 horror title are looking forward to their next title with giddy anticipation, Holding the promising of similar scares, a gripping story, and a branching narrative, Man of Medan certainly has got plenty of people quite excited.

We got the chance to sit down with the game’s director, Tom Heaton, for an interview, and among the many questions we asked him was one about how long the game will be, and how much gameplay time it’s going to offer. As per Heaton, Man of Medan is roughly 4-5 hours long, which he calls “a good length for a branching-narrative story,” and said that the developers are expecting that players will be replaying the game quite a few times to get different outcomes based on their choices, similar to what they saw with Until Dawn, which is going to kick up the game’s content offerings a notch.

“The play time is four to five hours,” Heaton told GamingBolt. “It’s probably closer to the five hour mark. That’s a good length for a branching-narrative story. It means the narrative doesn’t get too long. It’s longer than a film, but games have a different kind of pacing.”

“Because of the branching, it’s very replayable,” he continued. “So once you’ve played it— we’ve seen it in Until Dawn already— people play the game and they immediately try and save the people who got killed. Then they play again and try and kill everyone. We think people will replay the game many times and try and find all the secret content.”

Man of Medan launches on August 30 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Take look at 11 minutes of gameplay from the title through here.
