2022 was an impressive year for Sony’s first parties, having put out the likes of Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War Ragnarok, but there’s not much clarity on exactly what’s in the pipeline for 2023. So far, the only first party PlayStation title officially confirmed for the year is Marvel’s Spider-Man 2– and even that hasn’t received any updates since it was announced in September last year.
It seems, however, that that could change soon, with the recent Twitter activity of some Insomniac employees suggesting that the developer could be gearing up to show off the highly-anticipated superhero sequel soon. Community director James Stevenson recently published a tweet containing just a single gif of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, while senior community manager Aaron Jason Espinoza took to Twitter not long afterward with a tweet that simply read, “2023.”
Less than two months ago, Insomniac Games assured fans that development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was “making good progress”, and that the game was still on track to release in 2023. If the game is indeed going to launch next year, hopefully, it shouldn’t be too long before we begin hearing more about it, especially now that the last big PlayStation release of the year, God of War Ragnarok, is out.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is in development exclusively for PS5.
