Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is out in a few days’ time, and excitement surrounding the open world superhero sequel – which was already palpable – has ballooned further in the wake of its review embargo having gone live to universal critical acclaim.
In fact, the title has become developer Insomniac Games’ joint-best reviewed game of all time. At the time of writing, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has an aggregate score of 91 out of 100 on Metacritic after 120 reviews. That’s the highest score an Insomniac game has ever seen on Metacritic, with 2004’s Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal sitting on the same mark.
This also means Spider-Man 2 is Insomniac’s first game to have a score of 90 or above on Metacritic in nearly two decades. The game is currently also sitting at an OpenCritic aggregate score of 91 after 95 reviews.
