Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Motion Capture Has Seemingly Wrapped up

Yuri Lowenthal – who players Peter Parker/Spider-Man – says he has wrapped up his motion capture work on the game.

Where Sony’s portfolio of first party studios is concerned, there aren’t a lot of games that are officially confirmed for 2023 so far- but the one that we know will be coming this year is a pretty massive one. Developer Insomniac Games confirmed earlier this year that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 would be launching this Fall, and it seems the game is making steady progress behind the scenes as it gets closer to that window.

In fact, it seems like motion capture work on the game has wrapped up. Yuri Lowenthal – who plays Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Insomniac titles – recently confirmed in a Reddit AMA that his motion capture work on the game is “all done”. While there could still be motion capture that needs doing that doesn’t involve Lowenthal, given that he’s the titular protagonist, one would still assume that the vast majority of work on that front has been done.

Last month, Tony Todd – the actor who’s playing Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – let slip that the superhero sequel will be launching in September, with big marketing push planned for August- none of which Sony or Insomniac have officially confirmed yet. Meanwhile, leaks have claimed that a PlayStation Showcase is planned for early June, so there’s a good chance that we’ll hear more about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 there.
