Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Sells Over 2.5 Million Copies in 24 Hours

Insomniac Games' sequel to the 2018 superhero title is now the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation game, surpassing God of War Ragnarok.

Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has sold over 2.5 million copies within its first 24 hours of release. The hugely awaited open-world superhero title was released on October 20th exclusively for PS5 and has garnered rave reviews from critics.

Marvel’s Spider-Man, which launched in 2018 for PS4, sold 3.3 million units within three days, so there’s an uptick in sales. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation game in history, taking the title from Sony Santa Monica’s God of War Ragnarok.

In the United Kingdom, physical sales of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are 20 percent lower than Ragnarok and significantly lower than the first game. Digital downloads likely covered the difference, but we’ll have to wait for more details in the coming days. Either way, it’s a phenomenal achievement for Insomniac Games.
