The present state of the Metal Gear franchise may not be the best, in the wake of Hideo Kojima’s departure from Konami, and the recent release Metal Gear Survive having been met with universal disdain, but its past is glorious. Under Kojima, the Metal Gear franchise was one of the most consistent ever, churning out hit after hit, and a milestone setting game one after the other.
That glorious past is what Konami is looking at tapping into with the new event for Metal Gear Survive that they have just announced. The Encounter: 1964 will be a Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater themed event that will run for Metal Gear Survive from April 10 to April 24.
You will be able to unlock a whole lot of Metal Gear Solid 3 themed content with this event—which is probably the closest you are getting to being able to play this beloved game on your modern system. Metal Gear Survive is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
