Microsoft had made it their mission to upgrade everybody in the world to Windows 10 during the first year of Windows 10’s existence, while it was a free upgrade- whether the users themselves wanted to upgrade to Windows 10 or not was not something they were concerned with. Using increasingly misleading and duplicitous wording, they managed to push Windows 10 on a lot of users who either were not prepared for an OS upgrade and all that it entails, or simply did not want it. Those people were pissed.
And now, those people are apparently suing Microsoft. There are two new lawsuits against Microsoft as a result of their aggressive upgrade policy- the first suit, filed in Florida, alleges that Microsoft “violated laws governing unsolicited electronic advertisements, and that their tactics were against the FTC’s rules on deceptive and unfair practices.” The second suit, meanwhile Israel, alleging that the OS installs itself on users’ PCs without their consent.
Microsoft, on their part, are maintaining that these lawsuits will fail, and that upgrading to Windows 10 is a choice, not a requirement. On my part, I am inclined to disagree with Microsoft- to put it mildly.
