Microsoft Inviting Beta Sign-ups for Xbox Live 2013 Update

The upcoming Xbox Live update will phase out Microsoft Points and allow for improved performance.


A public beta for the 2013 Xbox Live Update for Xbox 360 has been announced, and Microsoft is allowing Xbox Live members to participate. There are limited spaces though, so players will need to sign up now if they’re interested. Simply head to the Xbox Beta Program title on the Home page of the Xbox Dashboard. After agreeing to an NDA, you’ll be on your way to taking part.

According to Major Nelson, members from any of the 41 Xbox Live enabled regions will be able to participate, although Japanese members will have a chance later to register.

The Xbox Live update will allow for improved performance and will Microsoft Points being phased out. Instead, members will be able to conduct business through the use of local currency which should go a long way towards better value for money on some Xbox Live purchases.
