Microsoft Responds to February 2013 NPD Results for Xbox 360

Microsoft pats itself on the back. Continuously.

Knowing the house that Gates built, you wouldn’t possibly think Microsoft would be humble following the February 2013 NPD results that showed the Xbox 360 to have sold 302,000 units in the US and outselling its competition for the 26th month in a row, would you?

Neither would we. In an official statement, the company pointed out that the Xbox 360 now holds “41 percent share of current-generation console sales” and that “total retail spend on the Xbox 360 platform in February (hardware, software and accessories) was the most for any console in the US.”

This was no small feat, considering that five of the top 10 console games for February were on the Xbox 360. This included the usual collection of shooters like Crysis 3, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Dead Space 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, along with the sports game NBA 2K13.

There’s still more to come with limited edition bundles and Gears of War: Judgment, developed by People Can Fly/Epic Games, releasing on March 19th so stay tuned for more celebrating.
