Monolith Productions’ Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is looking good and with the kind of scale it’s promising, it’s safe to say that the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro versions will look the best on consoles. After all, that was the case with Shadow of Mordor, which didn’t even have the Nemesis system on Xbox 360 and PS3. But will 4K be possible on the PS4 Pro?
GamingBolt spoke to design director Bob Roberts and when asked about 4K on the PS4 Pro, he said, “We’re still optimizing for that. Obviously it’s more powerful than the base PS4. The specs aren’t quite as high as the X.”
“But I think we can still most of the graphics, Things that we’re still trying to pull off. Will still have HDR. I think we’ll still have 4K but I can’t guarantee that right now. I think we’re still optimizing.”
How does the game fare on the original Xbox One and PS4 by comparison? While resolution wasn’t discussed, Roberts did note that, “It’s doing great on those. We can be confident that even with the end seeing epic hundreds of enemies battles that we’re still going to maintain a solid 30 frames all the time on those consoles as well. And it’s just pushing the graphics up on those higher spec machines.”
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War is out on October 10th for current gen consoles and PC. Thoughts on it possibly not having 4K resolution for PS4 Pro? Let us know below.
