Minecraft Passes 22 Million Units Sold on Mac and PC

The flagship version of Minecraft continues to sell well.

Mojang’s Minecraft continues to rack up those sales on Mac and PC. According to the game’s website, the so-called flagship version of the sandbox title has sold more than 22 million units. Its last reported milestone was in June 2015 when it hit 20 million units sold.

Roughly 13,000 units were sold in the past day – which should clue you into how popular Minecraft is. The success of the franchise isn’t even keeping in mind the popularity of Minecraft: Story Mode or that of the console and handheld versions.

Minecraft is available on Android, iOS, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC and Mac. A Windows 10 version is also available along with a new Wii U version. Microsoft bought Mojang in 2014 for $2.5 billion and it appears that investment was well worth it. A HoloLens version of Minecraft was also showcased at E3 2015 and received some good praise.
