Mirror’s Edge 2 May Be Called Mirror’s Edge Catalyst

At least, according to a recent EA trademark filing.

We’ve known about the new Mirror’s Edge game for a while now- it was revealed two years ago as the unlikely follow up to last generation’s cult parkour platformer, but it was also presented to us as sort of a reboot- all the marketing material so far has stressed that this is not a sequel, and has called the game, simply, ‘Mirror’s Edge.’

Well, it may have a new game now that will differentiate it from the original title a little bit. Ahead of EA’s press conference at E3 next week, a trademark filing by EA for ‘Mirror’s Edge Catalyst’ has emerged, indicating that that may be the final name of the new game once it is officially revealed and released.

That in itself would have been something easy enough to ignore – maybe it is one of many candidates for the final name, or heck, it might just be the name of an iOS spin off or companion app or something – but the Mirror’s Edge Twitter account itself tweeted an image that all but confirms that Catalyst shall indeed be the subtitle of the new game.

Personally, I think it’s a pretty good name.
