Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Developer Discusses How Runner Vision Has Changed This Time Around

It's sort of like a GPS, basically.

DICE are on a mission- the mission is to realize the full promise of their beloved, but ultimately highly flawed cult hit, Mirror’s Edge. They’re breaking this down into parts, trying to figure out exactly what it was that didn’t work in the original game, and patching it up for this release. We already know, for instance, how they plan on dealing with combat in Catalyst. However, that’s not all they’re changing- Senior Producer Sara Jansson also confirmed to The Examiner that the intriguing Runner Vision will be far more fleshed out in Catalyst than it was in the original game.

“We had to make some big changes to how Runner Vision worked,” said Jansson, “In Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, you’re going to be able to place your own marker on an objective or anywhere you want in the environment.

“[It will lead Faith on] by highlighting a path,” she continued, explaining that it will react in real time to you missing or changing your path, much like a GPS does, for example.

Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is due to launch in May on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
