Monster Hunter World is the first new console game in the series, and the next major evolution of the franchise, that people have been waiting for for years. You’d thing with how lush and gorgeous it looks, and with its new scope, with emergent dynamic behavior, and an open world arena to hunt monsters in, the game would come in with a hefty file size.
Except it… doesn’t? Based on the Japanese case for the game, Monster Hunter World requires just 16GB of hard drive space- which is paltry, and even less than something like Persona 5 (which I need to remind you was a PS3 port). Now, this will probably grow over time with DLC and updates, but… yeah, that’s surprisingly small for sure.
Not that file size has anything to do with a game’s quality (as a reminder, Breath of the Wild is less than 14GB, and may be the greatest game ever made). Monster Hunter World looks incredible, and all this means is that we won’t need to juggle storage space too much to dive into it when it launches worldwide on PS4 and Xbox One on January 26.
