Mortal Kombat 11 is one of the best fighting games on the market, thanks to a healthy heaping of content, incredibly fluid core gameplay, fantastic production values, and a great cast of characters to go along with it. What does hold it back, however, is the grind.
See, some of Mortal Kombat 11’s single player modes have some terrible grinding mechanics for the RPG-inspired gear system it has- especially the Towers of Time. The most benign explanation would be that this was down to poor balancing, but in this case, it feels like it is suspiciously trying to push people towards the game’s microtransactions.
The grind is so terrible that it can be off-putting entirely. Thankfully, this is something that NetherRealm Studios will be working on. Speaking on today’s episode of Kombat Kast, which you can see for yourself here, they noted that they have heard the feedback, and that they are working on an update they will push out as soon as possible, though they didn’t commit to an exact timeframe. The good news is that this doesn’t need to be a patch that goes through certification, and is something they can tweak on their end, server-side.
“We don’t have an exact time for it, but we do want it out ASAP. We’re definitely working on that, we’ve been listening, and we’re working on fixing that for you as we speak. So thank you for your feedback as always, keep it coming.”
Would it have been so hard to have the balance be fixed from the get go? I suppose at least they are addressing the problem now. Mortal Kombat 11 launches tomorrow, April 23, for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC
