Last year saw the release of the latest entry in the goriest fighting franchise out there, Mortal Kombat 11. The game has clearly been huge success, and has gotten not one, but two, re-releases with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate being the latest one. With that, we now have a roster of 37 characters, including some very high-profile guest characters, two story campaigns and a ton of skins and cosmetics. But support isn’t done yet, as the game is going to the movies soon.
On the official Twitter for the game, a tweet was sent out with a clear Hollywood-theme. This lead many to speculate that skins based on the 1995 film could be coming, and if you’re eagle-eyed you’ll noticed Raiden here has long hair like Christopher Lambert’s portrayal of the character in said film. To dispel any doubt of what’s being hinted out, series Creator Ed Boon also took to his official Twitter to loudly proclaim “MK movie skins!”
This actually won’t be the first time the game has dabbled in pseudo-crossover with the 1995 Mortal Kombat film. Shang Tsung is voiced by, and has the likeness of, the actor from that film, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. It’s not clear when these skins are coming or to what degree they will be done, but you can’t say that Mortal Kombat 11 hasn’t been supported very well.
