“Most of” The Wolf Among Us 2’s Dev Team Was Reportedly Let Go Amidst Telltale Layoffs

That's as per Jonah Huang, Telltale Games' former cinematic director who was also let go as part of the layoffs.

The wait for The Wolf Among Us 2 has been a long one, and at times, it’s looked entirely unlikely that the sequel would ever happen, though there has been strong hope that the reformed Telltale Games will be able to deliver the long-awaited game. However, it seems to have hit some significant productions issues.

Telltale Games recently confirmed that it had laid off members of its staff “due to current market conditions”, and though the developer did not go into detail on how widespread the layoffs were, according a member of the team who was one of the people to be let go, they seem to have been quite significant.

In a recent Twitter thread, cinematic director Jonah Huang stated that he was one of several people to be impacted by the studio’s layoffs, to the point where the majority of the team working on the project may have been let do. “Telltale laid most of us off early September,” he wrote.

Huang also said that he couldn’t say anything about the state of The Wolf Among Us 2, due to having signed an NDA. In a separate tweet, he added that the game’s development team had been “very small” to begin with.

Of course, Telltale’s official confirmation of the layoffs came after Huang’s tweets, with the studio stating that The Wolf Among Us 2 was still in production, but providing no further details.

The Wolf Among Us 2 was originally set to launch sometime in 2023, though earlier this year, it was delayed into 2024, with Telltale switching engines to Unreal Engine 5.
