Naughty Dog: The Last of Us PS4 Can Happen If There’s An Audience, Talks About TLOU2 & PS Now

Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley also talk about PS Now.

The Last of Us: Left Behind is now out and garnering rave reviews but what about the future of the franchise? In a 40 minute podcast, creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley talks about the possibility of a sequel and the original game heading to PS4.

With regards to a sequel, Druckmann stated that, “It’s just like the DLC, we had the choice to do it or not to do it. Well, let’s figure out if it’s worth doing. Let’s see if we can get passionate about it, so that’s how we would approach The Last of Us 2. We will brainstorm and if there is something we can latch on to then yeah, we can do it,” he said to IGN in a lengthy video podcast.

Though various rumours have stated that The Last of Us will be heading to the PS4, what would it take to port the original over? “It’s resources, it comes down to where you put your resources,” said Druckmann.

However, Straley added that, “If it’s worth it…I think Neil nailed it, if we have the opportunity and we find there is an audience out there that’s craving [for] it, then we can make it happen, possibly, but there is nothing definitive right now.”

Druckmann also gave his take on the upcoming PlayStation Now, Sony’s cloud-streaming service for providing PS3 games on the PS4 (The Last of Us is one of the titles offered).

“You know, you want to play all these old games but due to lack of backwards compatibility or whatever, now you can. You can go back to these old games and try them. For all those [people] who jumped to a PS4 and did not own a PS3 to try these awesome games.”
