NBA Jam 25th Anniversary Revival May Be Coming, Thanks To Microsoft

Now that sounds very interesting...

One of the most popular arcade games of all time was NBA Jam from the 16-bit era, a game that is legendary to this day; players of the SNES and Genesis generation grew up playing this game, at least in North America, and many harbor a fond nostalgia for it. The game has since turned into a series- but for many, the original remains the best.

Those players may be happy to know that the game, which turns 25 this year, may be getting a revival this year (which would also be the first entry in its series since 2011). In an interview with ESPNNBA Jam‘s legendary announced Tim Kitzrow hinted that a new title in the series may be inbound.

“I can’t speak anything to the specifics, but I can tell you there is movement in the works to get it done for the 25th year. So, I’m hoping that we get a remake that does justice to the original,” he said.

Interestingly enough, he also seemed to suggest that the new game will be coming courtesy of Microsoft- which would imply that it will be an Xbox (or Xbox/Windows 10) exclusive. The problem here is, the license is held by EA- so what is going on, exactly? Has Microsoft managed to secure a coup? Or did Kitzrow just get confused?

However it is brought back, I’m sure players will be happy to see the return of the beloved brand. Here’s hoping.
