NetherRealm Studios Talks About PS4’s Ease of Development, “Willing to Give Up Eight Years of Work”

Senior producer Adam Urbano reveals how getting code running on PS4 is easier.

Injustice may already be out for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 but NetherRealm Studios will also bring the fighting game over to the PS4. Speaking to Polygon, senior producer Adam Urbano reveals how despite the problems associated with the hardware, the team managed to utilize nearly 100 percent of the PS3’s SPU.

“At NetherRealm, we loved the PS3. I know some devs really didn’t like the SPUs, but we have a tech team that spent eight years really perfecting that thing. So we had near-100 percent SPU utilization for Injustice.”

However, with the power and ease that the PS4 offers, NetherRealm is now happy to throw all that work away. “That said, we were willing to give it up because the PS4 is so easy. The tools are great, the hardware’s great, it’s super-elegant to work on. So getting code up and running is substantially easier than it’s been in past generations.”

Some of the features incorporated in the PS4 version will include a steady 60 FPS frame rate and advanced anti-aliasing.

Injustice will be available at launch as the Ultimate Edition. The PS4 launches on November 15th in North America and November 29th in Europe.
