The Alien series has had some serious ups and downs when it comes to video game adaptations. While I still can’t forgive Gearbox, Alien Isolation would see some success with a completely different team that was able to capture the heart of the series. Now it seems like new developers Cold Iron Studios will be the next to take the reigns, as revealed via press release from parent company FoxNext.
Besides being a shooter, nothing more was revealed about the title by FoxNext. However, if you have any doubts about a green development studio at the helm, have no fear. The studio has some serious background on its side, with talent from games like Doom, Metroid Prime 3, and Borderlands within their ranks.
It feels like Cold Iron has a good grasp on sci-fi worlds with their pedigree, and head honcho Craig Sinkievich seems to understand that they have a legacy to live up to and build with this title as well. “Our background in building online worlds and taking established franchises to the next level in interactive entertainment is a precise fit with our product roadmap ahead; we can’t wait to share more information soon,” said Sinkievich.
