While we know that the newest adaptation of The Walking Dead is trading in its moral choices for some good old fashioned firearms courtesy of the creators of Payday 2, Overkill’s The Walking Dead has had surprisingly few details for a title due out this fall. It was assumed that the game would be following the Payday 2 model, but it seems like that won’t be the case.
With Starbreeze Global Brand Director Almir Listo telling Official PlayStation Magazine in their May 2018 issue that the tone is going to be quite a bit different from the A-Team like Payday 2 and more like Game of Thrones where things just get darker, new details have emerged about how players can expect to enjoy the game. It seems like weapon maintenance will play a key role in the game, and neglecting your gun can mean you jam at exactly the wrong moment.
In addition to needing to keep your firearms taken care of, which will usually occur at the base camp, crafting and maintenance will happen in real time, similar to The Last of Us. Scarcity of resources is also a popular zombie trope that should appear, meaning you may not always have what you need to begin with. Are you interested in the game? Let us know in the comments.
