New PS4 Model Has 1TB HDD According To FCC

The new PS4 models are also slightly lighter than the original.

While there are already rumors of a possible PS5, it appears Sony is not putting all of its eggs in that basket. A new report has surfaced today that claims there are actually going to be two new models of the PS4 with one including 1TB HDD. The most interesting thing about this new report is that it isn’t due to inside sources or a company press release. This time, the report comes thanks to a filing with the FCC.

The two new models are listed on the website as CUH-1215A and CUH-1215B, and there is a related testing kit numbered DUH-T1200AA. While the 1TB HDD seems to be one of the most noteworthy aspects of the new models there are other differences between the two models and the one consumers now know. The new models also have different power generation rating out at 230W compared to the current 250W.

Sony has also apparently managed to make the new models while boasting better hard drives, the new models are just a little bit lighter than what is out on the market now. The size of the housing units are not actually any bigger or smaller so it does appears as if something inside the device has actually been removed or changed in order take a few ounces away from the total weight. The FCC document does not show just what Sony did in order to make these PS4s using different power draws and make them a little lighter. Sony has also not officially announced the new PS4 but it’s a safe bet it will soon.
