New Video Shows Off Friends List and Social Features on Xbox One

Predictably enough, it looks awesome.

One of the most consistently impressive things about the Xbox consoles so far has been their UI and their social and internet features, with the original Xbox kicking things off for consoles in those two fields, and the Xbox 360 subsequently setting the standard for the entire industry. Judging by the above video, the Xbox One won’t be quite as revolutionary, but it may just prove to be the golden standard for everyone else for the next generation.

The video explains how the Friends app and social functions work on Xbox One- essentially, it is a combination of existing Xbox 360 features (you get your own profile and friends lists), combined with some Facebook like features (a live feed charting your friends’ activity that updates in real time, like on the PS Vita), and the new stuff the Xbox One is bringing to the table, such as video uploads.

The UI looks quick and snappy, with almost no loading times at all- seriously, while I am a fan of what Sony have done with the PS4 UI, the Xbox One UI looks to be in a league of its own.

The UI and OS of a console are increasingly more important these days, along side the social experience. How much would the Xbox’s competence in these two areas push you towards buying it? Let us know!
