We’ve already reported on the leaks surrounding the next Assassin’s Creed game- apparently, the series is skipping release this year for the first time since 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II, and the next game, which will launch next year, will be set in Egypt. However, now Kotaku is also reporting on this, giving the rumor, which earlier had originated from 4Chan, far more validity than its earlier dubious source may have indicated.
The game will apparently be called Assassin’s Creed Empire, and it will be the first game in a planned trilogy that will then go on to cover ancient Greece and ancient Rome. Apparently, the reason that Ubisoft are going so far back in time for these new games is so they can have more creative liberty to do whatever they want without infringing on the historical record.
This won’t be the only Ubisoft franchise that’s going back in time, either- Far Cry will be going prehistoric with Far Cry Primal, that launches next month.
