Crystal Dynamics announced back in 2022 that it had started development on the next Tomb Raider game, and though official information on the title has been scarce since then, some new potential details may have arrived courtesy of a leak by Twitter user V Scooper.
The leaker, who has a decent track record of accurate leaks (though largely ones related to films and TV), has claimed on Twitter that the next Tomb Raider game will be set in India and is going to be fully open world.
Allegedly, the game’s story will be kickstarted by a natural disaster in northern India that reveals new, previously undiscovered ruins and artifacts from the reign of King Ashoka. The game will see Lara racing against a group known as the Society of Raiders, who are allegedly “inspired” yet “unaffiliated” with Lara, and “might have some opposite agendas”.
The leaker claims the game will allow players to explore its “vast sceneries” using a motorcycle, parachutes, and Lara’s parkour abilities. The game will also allegedly feature an expanded focus on non-lethal stealth and combat options, while a new recruiting system will allow features to recruit allies and teams that will “strategically aid you in missions”.
Back in 2022, shortly after the next Tomb Raider game was confirmed to be in development, leaks claimed that it would be “set in a modern-day world rocked by a mysterious cataclysm”, and feature a much more experienced version of Lara Croft. Read more on that through here.
The next Tomb Raider title is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. It was announced in December 2022 that it would be published by Amazon Games.
