Blizzard had announced the console version of Diablo 3 at the Sony PS4 press conference and now we have a bit more details on it. The auction house that was present in the PC version has been removed in the console version because of obvious reasons and this also allows console gamers to play the game offline.
The game may not be a Sony exclusive and will most certainly head to the Xbox 720 as well.
“We don’t have any announcements to make at this time,” he told Penny Arcade.
“But we’re not necessarily a Sony exclusive,” hinting that the game my be coming to other platforms as well.
He also revealed why the auction house was removed from the consoles.
He added: “The ecosystems on the PC and console are very different. There were some technical reasons we had to go with offline, but again once you have an offline experience, even if we wanted to bring in the auction house, it just becomes problematic. How do you validate? How do you make sure there is no duping or any of that stuff?”
“Even though some things were lost, and there will be many Diablo players who consider those losses a good thing, the gains were worth it. “But we really felt that playing offline, and being able to move your console from the living room to your bedroom, which a lot of players do to play, is really important.”
The game is set to be released on the PS3 and PS4 for now. Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
