Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja surprised everyone recently by announcing Nioh 3, the next title in the masocore action RPG series. A free alpha demo is available now for PS5 players to download (with PS5 Pro support), but there’s a catch: It’s only available until June 18th.
This won’t be anything new for Nioh 1 and 2 players, as both received limited-time demos. Completing the Nioh 3 demo awards a Helmet equipment item for use in the game, though you have to play on the same console and PlayStation Network account.
It’s also worth noting that the demo doesn’t represent the game (with content “subject to change upon release”). Team Ninja solicits feedback after these, which ultimately improves the final release. For now, it’s a great way for fans to try out the new Samurai and Ninja Styles while traversing an open-field environment.
Nioh 3 is out in early 2026 for PS5 and PC. It follows a younger Tokugawa Ieyasu embroiled in a war with the Yokai on the road to becoming Shogun.
