No Man’s Sky was one of the most sought after games ever launched on the PS4. Then some people got their hands on the game and found out that the game was nowhere close to what the developers had promised and since then the popularity of the title went downhill fast.
Just a few months after it was first released, the game was seen as overly repetitive with not enough to do once players had found the materials to get off the first planet. No Man’s Sky was quickly setting records for low ratings and poor reviews.
Now one analyst is comparing the game to when a movie launches to great hype but fizzles after opening weekend. Michael Goodman, who is the director of digital media strategies at Strategy Analytics, spoke with We Write Things and said, “You have that opening box office weekend where it does really well and then all of a sudden it just dies a quiet death. I feel like that’s where this game is. It started off really hot, had a lot of buzz, oh it’s groundbreaking, different and it has this and that. People tried it and found out that it’s a game where you’re kind of grinding through it.”
That’s why No Man’s Sky has become a game most people forgot exists at this point.
